GENERAL EXPEDITION INFORMATION FOR GUIDED AND UNGUIDED TRIPS:CLOTHING:Due to extreme range in temperatures above the Arctic Circle, we feel all clothing should be wool and/or Patagonia type fibers. HAT (wool), GLOVES (wool), Med. weight durable HIKING BOOTS. Suggested footwear for raft tour should be: insulated calf-high X-TRA TUF GOODRICH RUBBER BOOTS, LIGHTWEIGHT durable TENNIS SHOES for camp and WATER SANDALS for crossing streams. PANTS: one pair is sufficient. Lightweight RAIN GEAR such as Goretex is recommended. FOOD:If you are participating in any guided or unguided tour, you are responsible for your own backpacking foods, except trip #3 of which all food is provided for you. TRANSPORTATION:Flying into remote areas in Alaska can be expensive. Take the worry out of your trip; fly into Fairbanks via a major airlines such as Alaska Airlines and continue to starting points for all trips with a local flight service. Upon booking with Alaska Fish and Trails, we will make the necessary reservations. You are monetarily responsible for these flights, when you arrive at your starting point Alaska Fish and Trails will fly you into the bush at no extra charge. EQUIPMENT NEEDED:Total gear should not exceed 50 lbs. per person. Below is the minimum gear we feel you will need to help you enjoy your trip in the boreal Alaskan forest. STURDY FRAME PACK (internal preferred) with hip pad and pack rain cover. Good quality warm SLEEPING BAG, goose down or fiber fill and quality SLEEPING PAD. Quality lightweight TENT with impermeable flooring and an impenetrable rain fly. quality one burner back packing STOVE. Personal FIRST AID KIT, Mole Skin Kit, lightweight FISHING GEAR that takes down (IF YOU WANT TO FISH) COOKING GEAR:

PHYSICAL CONDITION:For the guided and unguided trips, good physical condition is needed. Clients should prepare months in advance by jogging, hiking with pack on, walking and exercising. You should have an approval by your physician. RESPONSIBILITIES:We provide you with good equipment and guides to assure you with a safe and memorable trip. We hope everyone will keep in mind that you are responsible for yourself and should act accordingly in a safe manner at all times using our expertise when necessary. All guides will carry a firearm at all times for protection from bear; this is a remote wilderness area. Mistakes in the Arctic is very unforgiving. WEATHER:Arctic weather is unpredictable and can change at a moment's notice. In general it is as follows: SPRING: -15 degrees F at night to +45 degrees daytime SUMMER: +45 degrees F to +85 degrees F sunny FALL: +30 degrees F top +65 degrees F. Be sure to take heed to the equipment and clothing list we have provided for you. Equipment that Alaska Fish and Trails Unlimited will provide for you on all guided or unguided trips is as follows:
RESERVATIONS:To make reservations you should fill out the application sheet enclosed designating trip choice and starting date. A fifty percent (50%) DEPOSIT per person per trip is required with this application. If you cancel your trip the 50% deposit is non-refundable. Summers are short in Alaska, much care and planning goes into your trip, with available space hard to fill at such short notice. Make sure you booking is secure before sending deposit. A personal release form is also mandatory with your booking. NOTE TO ALL CLIENTS:Any bush flying administered by ALASKA FISH AND TRAILS UNLIMITED as outlined on this website is free. The client is paying for the expertise of guiding services; the flying is only incidental to the business.
